How far could I have walked without the Love other Queen-women have given me, freely?
How many steps would I have had to forfeit were it not for the support my sister-friend offered?
Where would I be now
without the Wisdom of my great-grandmother?
How much harder would I have fallen
were it not for God's saving grace?
How many times have I journeyed an expanse,
safe in the the Strength of my mother?
How many mother-crystal tears gathered to enable me to swim safely across to another important side?
Could I have recovered from my falls if someone-somewhere wasn't believing in me?
Could I have done such improbable things
if they hadn't believed I could do them?
What if my Queen-women had never known
they were supposed to be different?
What if they had never listened
when God was telling them
that the weapons of their warfare
would have to be Love?
As we are present in this moment that we are now standing in, surely, surely, there must be gratitude for the Queen-women who were born to defy reason and who raised us to believe God.
As we are the force that's called forth to raise the new daughter-women to know more than we know ...
may the Grace of God upon our heads be enough.
